GI luminal and biliary metallic stenting

GI luminal and biliary metallic stenting, also known as Self-Expandable Metallic Stent (SEMS) placement, is a specialized medical procedure used to treat various conditions involving narrowing or blockages in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract or the bile ducts. SEMS is a type of stent made of metal that can be deployed to keep the affected area open and allow for the normal flow of fluids and contents.

GI Luminal Stenting (SEMS):
GI luminal stenting is performed to address strictures (narrowing) or obstructions within the gastrointestinal tract, such as the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, or colon. These strictures may be caused by various conditions, including cancer, inflammation (e.g., due to Crohn’s disease), or other structural abnormalities.
