Esophagus Stomach & Intestine

The stomach is a muscular organ located on a left side of the upper abdomen. the stomach receives food from the esophagus.

Esophagus: The esophagus is a muscular tube that connects the throat (pharynx) to the stomach. Its main function is to transport food and liquids from the mouth to the stomach through a process called peristalsis. Peristalsis is the rhythmic contraction and relaxation of the esophageal muscles that push the food downward.

Stomach: The stomach is a sac-like organ located in the upper abdomen, just below the diaphragm. It plays a crucial role in the digestive process by secreting gastric juices that contain hydrochloric acid and enzymes, such as pepsin, which help break down proteins in the food. The stomach mixes the food with gastric juices, creating a semi-liquid substance called chyme. The chyme is gradually released into the small intestine for further digestion and absorption.
